fromIt is an indigenous celebration in gratitude for the care and blessing of their crops. Because of the solstice it is held during the months of June and July. This is a colorful and joyful festival where folk dances, traditional cuisine and Andean music congregate. Its dancers wear typical costumes, heads decorated with mirrors, sequins and feathers, on of the main characters of this celebration is called Uma who represents the spirit of the mountain, wears a mask with two fronts that represents the duality of day and night, and the hanging cloth snakes signifying the wisdom of the Andean cultures.

The Inti Raymi festival is celebrated in the Ecuadorian Sierra in gratitude for the harvest received, this is one of the most important festivals of the Andean calendar, which is celebrated when the sun is closer to the earth. Each festival is different and is carried out according to the worldview of each town. Among the most important activities are purification rituals that are carried out in lagoons, waterfalls and rivers. Within each party you can see various artistic and cultural expressions to the delight of visitors.
The provinces where this celebration takes place are mainly Otavalo, Cotacachi, Natabuela, Mitad del Mundo, Cayambe, Pedro Moncayo, Salasaka, Santa Rosa, Saraguro and Chimborazo.

This festivity is celebrated during the Solstice, a special time in the Andes Region for its proximity in the earth to the sun.
It is celebrated in the Provinces of Imbabura, Pichincha, Tungurahua, Cotopaxi, Loja, Chimborazo.
The activities in each province are different because each area has ceremonies according to their worldview, however, all of them are done towards the sun.
