Napo Cultural Center is a project that seeks to preserve its ancestral traditions and the natural environment as a means of identity, sustainability and respect for life. It offers 5, 4 and 3-Day programs that include a variety of activities such as hiking, kayaking, Kanopy Tower, traditional dinner, ancestral ritual wayusada, ancestral catamaran, rowing canoe, widlife observation, night walk, parrot and parakeet claylicks view.

  1. Day 1 Arrival to the Lodge

    The tour begins in the city of Coca, where we will take a canoe that will take us to the lodge, where a warm welcome from the community members will await you. The hotel manager will give you the respective instructions and the first activity will be prepared, a walk along the Playas trail and live an incredible experience in the middle of one of the places with the greatest biological bio-diversity on Earth.

  2. Day 2 Jungle Exploration

    In the morning you will visit community projects and walk along the trails admiring the fauna of the place.

    In the afternoon we will paddle around the Arroyo Añangu of black water where you can see monkeys, alligators and sometimes otters.

    At night prepare your flashlight to discover different types of nocturnal insects, reptiles and mammals.

  3. Day 3 Parrot Clay Lick and Observation of the Jungle

    After breakfast, we will go to one of the most outstanding places in the Reserve, the Parrot Clay Lick on the riviera of the Napo River. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera lenses as here you will have the opportunity to see 11 species of parrots and flocks of parakeets, including howler monkeys, tapirs and pecaries. We will finish the morning with a visit to the Kiri Muyu community to learn about their crafts, culture and traditions.

    In the afternoon we will visit the observation tower that reaches 36 meters above the surface.

    At night you will experience a unique activity on the Napo River aboard the ancient catamaran to learn more about its legends and traditional songs, while the women grill local delicacies on the fire.

  4. Day 4 Wildlife Observation

    After enjoying an exquisite local buffet breakfast we will start our walk on the mainland, discover strange insects, tune your eyes and ears for the monkeys and reptiles birds among the thick forest.

    In the afternoon you will visit the lodge’s second tower to observe more than 600 species of birds.

    In the evening prepare for a typical traditional dinner.

  5. Day 5 Departure

    To have a perfect last day you will have the opportunity to participate in the wayusada ritual that begins at 4:30am. Ritual to transmit your ancient knowledge to the new generations. (optional)

    After breakfast our staff will help you with your luggage for your return to El Coca aboard our comfortable motor boat.

Napo Cultural Center offers cozy and comfortable cabins for its guests with the facilities of a luxury hotel in the city mixed with traditional Kichwa architecture and crafting. Relax in the hammock on your own balcony during the day or at night enjoying the sounds of nature and the charm of a natural landscape.

Its facilities also have a bar & restaurant where you can enjoy delicious drinks, tropical fruits and incredible gourmet cuisine prepared with local products.

Napo Cultural Center Accommodation

The Ecuadorian Amazon is characterized by a very humid tropical climate, during your stay you will have sunny and hot days, as well as temporary rains. That is why we always recommend being prepared for this highly variable climate.

The climate of the Ecuadorian jungle is slightly variable from one month to another, so any time of the year is perfect to visit.

At Napo Cultural Center, enjoy delicious Ecuadorian cuisine prepared with local seasonal products in a gourmet style.

There is satellite Internet in the facilities and main areas.

  • 8×35 mm binoculars.
  • Photographic or video camera.
  • Clothing: Light pants, long and short sleeve shirts, shorts (basically for use inside the lodge). Light jacket or sweater. Waterproof sweater, cotton socks, hiking shoes (trekking) Sandals, for use inside the lodge.
  • Cap or hat.
  • Glasses. (Take into account that bright colors could drive fauna away).
  • Small backpack for excursions.
  • Zip-lock covers to protect cameras, Ipods, etc. from rain and humidity.
  • Insect repellent and Sunscreen (not spray).
  • Hand or head torch.

  • Extra money for bar consumptions or crafts (Visa, MasterCard and Diners credit cards are accepted)

In our lodge, we have electricity 24 hours a day (110v) so you can recharge your electronic equipment.
