All about the Napo Widlife Center 5D/4N – Birding Tour.

Napo Widlife Center is a project based on ecotourism created with responsibility and environmental friendly infrastructure. It has the capacity to accommodate 40 guests with all the comforts for a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Tours and activities include bird watching, forest walks, canoeing, and an inspiring cultural exchange.

  1. Day 1 Napo Wildlife Center

    The tour begins in the city of Coca, where we will take a comfortable motor boat that will take us to the cozy area of Napo Wildlife Center.

    Immediately we will take a calm canoe ride that will take us into the lodge, during this journey we will be able to see the first Hoatzins and other birds such as the Rufescent Tiger, the Sungrebe, the Red-bellied Macaw and the Green and Rufestuoso Kingfisher.

  2. Day 2 - 3 - 4 Birdwatching Sites

    Three full days to enjoy the wonders of nature.

    One or two mornings we will visit the great tower from where you will be able to observe a great variety of birds with bright colors such as flocks of orioles, aracaris, tanagers, raptors, numerous parrots, macaws and much more.

    We will walk through forest paths that offer access to another view of the birdlife.

  3. Day 2 - 3 - 4 Saladeros

    In the Napo Wildlife Center lands there are several saladeros. Here you can observe hundreds of parrots and parakeets that come to eat clay.

    We will also enjoy canoe rides, visit a local indigenous community that is home to many other species such as the turquoise and magpie, the ruffed-headed woodpecker and the white-winged swallow.

    In addition, some of the islands in the Napo River maintain a varied birdlife. These species include the black and white antelope, the olive-spotted hummingbird, and at least three species of springtails.

  4. Day 5 Return

    This day we will return to Coca where this wonderful trip ends.

Accommodation

Napo Widlife Center has 20 cabins, distributed in 12 Standard and 8 Suites built on the shore of the lake which allows a spectacular view of the landscape.

Each cabin has:

  • Electricity
  • Safe-deposit box
  • Water
  • Porch with seats and view to the lake
  • Amenities: slippers, bathrobe, toiletries, bath salts
  • 100% cotton towels

In addition, the Suites have: living room, minibar and “waterfall” style shower, they are divided into 4 individual suites ideal for couples. Jacuzzi in their private bathroom and a panoramic glass floor in the living room, 4 connecting suites ideal for families.

Napo Widlife Center also offers a bar – restaurant with high quality food service combining local and international cuisine and an unlimited service coffee, water and tea station.

Always taking into account the responsibility with the environment and its ecosystem, the energy is generated by solar panels, industrial batteries and silent generators to provide electricity 24 hours a day, for the comfort of its guests it has 110 volt electrical outlets in each cabin and also in the common areas such as the restaurant and the bar, it also has a water dispenser for showers and bathrooms and satellite Wi-Fi to stay connected throughout your stay.

Napo Widlife CenterAccommodation

Napo Wildlife Center has capacity for 40 people based on double accommodation.

Food service is based on a combination of local and international food. Breakfast and dinner will be served buffet-style and lunch will be a menu: starter, main course, dessert and soft drink.

Also a coffee station is available, where you can drink unlimited tea, water or coffee.

At the lodge there is access to satellite WiFi and it is available for a small additional fee.

  • Napo Wildlife Center provides rubber boots (up to US men’s size 13) and nylon rain ponchos free of charge to those guests who request them.
  • You may choose to use your own boots or sneakers for forest hikes depending upon the conditions.
  • Likewise, you may bring your own raingear. Of course soap, shampoo, towels, and other such items are provided just as they are at any luxury hotel.
  • There is a 44-pound (20kg) per person baggage limit on the flights from Quito to Coca, and overweight luggage will be charged directly by the airline. This limit should not pose a problem to most Napo Wildlife Center travelers.
