The Guaranda Carnival is one of the most popular festivals in Ecuador which is celebrated between February and March of each year, this tradition began in honor of the Casique de Guaranda and with the arrival of the Spanish it was transformed into a celebration with an European heritage preserving ancestral traditions. In this festival, the community disguises itself as different characters and dance to popular music. There are also various parades, food festivals, artistic shows and other activities that the participants like.
